Convert WebP to JPG or PNG
Convert WebP to JPG, or choose PNG to preserve a transparent background.
Convert to JPG if the place where you need the photo does not accept WebP. The starting button selects JPG and high quality mode. For a transparent WebP, JPG conversion offers a background color choice.
If transparency is needed, change the output format to PNG after selecting your photo. PNG supports transparency, but the result may be larger than the source WebP. Both JPG and PNG use real encoders.
You can also apply resizing and cropping during conversion. Converting a lossy WebP to PNG does not recover detail missing from the source. Check the result format, background, and dimensions before use.
How to use
- Select a WebP file.
- Choose JPG and a background color, or switch to PNG for transparency.
- Check the output format and file size, then download.
Tip
The starting button selects JPG. If transparency is needed, make sure you switch the output format to PNG before downloading.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert to PNG too?
Yes. Select PNG in the tool’s format options. This page’s starting button selects JPG.
Does JPG remove transparency?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the selected background color. The default is white.
Does PNG conversion restore the original quality?
No. It stores the pixels currently present in the WebP as PNG and does not recover lost information.
Are iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos supported?
Yes. The first image in a HEIC/HEIF file is decoded in your browser. Keep original format saves it as JPG. If decoding fails, convert the photo to JPG and try again.
