FAQ

Answers about cost, photo storage, supported formats, target file size, and quality.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free and does not require an account.

Are my photos sent to a server?

Photo processing happens inside your browser, without sending photos to a server. Network requests may fetch runtime assets such as the tool code and background removal model.

Where are recent images stored?

They are stored in this browser’s IndexedDB. You can delete individual images or clear the list from the recent images area. Clearing site data may also remove them.

Which formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF are supported for input and output. An error is shown if your browser cannot decode an input file. Conversion re-encodes the image rather than just changing the extension.

Can it always meet my target size?

Quality search and resizing try to reach the limit but cannot guarantee it. If the target is missed, the tool shows the smallest result and a notice. PNG does not use a quality value.

Is high quality mode lossless?

For lossy formats, it searches for an SSIM of at least 0.985, without guaranteeing identical pixels. PNG input also gets a lossless optimization result.

Can I download several images together?

Add up to 50 images and process them with shared settings. Download individual files or collect completed results in a ZIP. Other images continue processing if one fails.

Is location metadata retained?

Re-encoded files do not retain the source EXIF metadata. If the tool keeps an already small original without dimension or refinement changes, that original’s metadata remains.

Are iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos supported?

Yes. The first image in a HEIC/HEIF file is decoded in your browser. Keep original format saves it as JPG. If decoding fails, convert the photo to JPG and try again.
