Resize an image
Reduce image dimensions using maximum width and height, a percentage, or exact pixel settings.
Use size settings to change the number of pixels across an image. This page starts with a maximum width of 1600 pixels and the original format. Change the value as needed and check the result dimensions.
Choose original, maximum dimensions, percentage, or exact size. Maximum dimensions preserve the aspect ratio and fit within the given bounds. Exact size offers an aspect ratio lock; unlocking it can change the proportions.
The tool does not enlarge images beyond their source size. A value larger than the source or a locked aspect ratio can produce dimensions different from both entered values. Adjust the crop first if you need a particular shape.
How to use
- Select a photo.
- Choose maximum dimensions, percentage, or exact size and enter values.
- Check the result dimensions and file size, then download.
Tip
Set the crop ratio first when a particular shape is required. This tool does not enlarge small originals to a larger pixel size.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use 1600 pixels?
No. It is only this page’s starting value. Change it to suit the requirements of your destination.
Can I preserve the aspect ratio?
Maximum dimensions and percentage preserve the source ratio. Exact size lets you choose whether to lock the ratio.
Does resizing also meet a KB limit?
Pixel dimensions and file size are different. Use target size mode as well if you have a KB limit, and check the result.
Are iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos supported?
Yes. The first image in a HEIC/HEIF file is decoded in your browser. Keep original format saves it as JPG. If decoding fails, convert the photo to JPG and try again.
